New Orleans Jazz

“New Orleans Jazz” is a musical sampler of traditional and ragtime jazz drawn from the Arhoolie catalogue. Performers range from trumpeter Kid Thomas Valentine, clarinetist George Lewis, and the husband and wife duo of Billie and DeDe Pierce, musicians who began their musical careers in New Orleans in the early 1920s to The New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra and The Golden Age Jazz Band, modern bands that faithfully play in the traditional New Orleans style. Musical standouts are “Panama” performed by Kid Thomas, “Savoy Blues” performed by George Lewis, and “The Entertainer” performed by the New Orleans Ragtime Band.
