Folk Songs of Viet Nam

Vietnam’s musical heritage is so rich and diverse that each region- North, Central, and South- produces a unique music of its own. As the liner notes indicate, “no song repeats in any two regions of Viet Nam.” The album presents traditional folk songs from each region. Performers include Pung Oanh, Pam Thuy Hoan, Quynh Hanh, the prolific songwriter Phạm Duy, and others. The songs are sung by professional vocalists, each representing their native region of Vietnam.
