Roberto Martinez - "El Corrido de Córdova y Canales" [Behind The Scenes Documentary]

Roberto Martínez, founder of Minority Owned Record Enterprises (M.O.R.E.), shares his corrido about the murder of activists Antonio Córdova and Rito Canales.

For nearly fifty years, Martinez made music in his beloved New Mexico. Among his songs are powerful corridos, many of which honor victims of social injustice. In 2007, Smithsonian researchers under the guidance of Dr. Enrique Lamadrid of the University of New Mexico interviewed Martinez about one such corrido—highly influential, though never previously recorded. His album Farewell Concert has been out on Smithsonian Folkways since 2006.
