Zydeco Champs

More than any other record company, Arhoolie Records introduced zydeco music to America and eventually to the world. Beginning with recordings by Clifton Chenier, the undisputed King of Zydeco, Arhoolie added other talented Black Creole zydeco performers to its catalog including Amede Ardoin, his cousin and a National Heritage Fellow “Bois Sec” Ardion, National Heritage Fellow Canray Fontenot and Chenier’s son C.J.. This collection features some of the best examples of zydeco music recorded from the 1960s through the 1980s.
