Cajun Music Pioneer

Joe Falcon
Cajun Music Pioneer Accordionist Joe Falcon (1900–1965) recorded the first Cajun record in a New Orleans hotel in 1928. Although infrequently recorded during his life, Falcon and his band maintained an active performing schedule, playing at hundreds of fais-do-do dances in southwest Louisiana. This live recording from 1963 was one of the last dances he played, and it captures the energy and flavor of his music. The liner notes provide a brief biography of Falcon and the recording.
