Dulcimer Instruction Album: New Ways of Playing Mountain Dulcimer

In 1979, Folkways released this instructional album by Kevin Roth on playing the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer. In the recording, Roth instructs his student “Herman Klutzmeyer” in the art of tuning and playing both the three- and four-stringed dulcimer. The final ten tracks are a demonstration of the dulcimer playing solo and with other instruments. Selections in this grouping include “Ola Belles Blues,” “Duncan,” “Old Joe Clark,” “Shady Grove,” and “The Patriot Game.”

A 54-page instruction book is included with the album. The book shows chord charts for both the three- and four-stringed dulcimer and music notation for five songs.
