Dog Daze

Arhoolie founder Chris Strachwitz first heard Csókolom in concert in 1998 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was so taken by the group that he recorded them two days later. This is their third recording for Arhoolie. Led by violinist and singer Anti von Klewitz, the string quartet (3 violins and bass) plays music drawn from the rich Romani and folk music heritage of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Bulgaria. The liner notes provide brief background information about each selection.
